Introduction

At Topoprint.ch, we respect your privacy and strive to collect only minimal data about our users. This privacy policy will inform you about how we handle personal data when you visit our website, as well as your privacy rights and the legal protections that are in place for you.

This policy covers the website topoprint.ch and the Topodisc Designer at designer.topoprint.ch. It also covers our forthcoming iPhone app Print Your Track, which is still in development — see the separate section below.

Data We Collect

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

• Personal Data We do not ask for or store any data regarding your identity or other personal information, except for the technical and usage data outlined below. There are no user accounts, and there is no sign-up or login anywhere in our service.
  In the future, we may partner with a third-party identity service, but please note that there will be no data about you or your identity stored on topoprint.ch.
• Location and Route Data is the information you give us in order to build a model. This is either a location — an address or a pair of coordinates you enter or pick on the map — or a GPX track that you upload for a route model. Please be aware that a GPX file is a detailed record of where you have been, including timestamps. We use it only to compute your model: the file is uploaded to a short-lived storage area at Cloudflare (maximum 1 MB, automatically deleted after roughly 72 hours) so that our processing job can fetch it, and it is not linked to your identity.
  Please also note that the resulting model is published on a page under https://topoprint.ch/topodiscs/. A model you build here on the website may additionally be listed among recently built Topodiscs and appear on our map. Models created in the Print Your Track iPhone app are never listed and never appear on the map — see the section below. Do not upload a track you would rather keep private, and see "Your Legal Rights" below if you want a published model removed.
• Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this website. We only use the data for debugging purposes and delete it within at most a month. The logging data is stored at our webhoster and, for the model calculation, in Google Cloud Logging in the region europe-west6 (Zurich, Switzerland), see below.
• Usage Data includes information about how you use our website, products and services. We do this with a simple counter that we host ourselves: when you click certain buttons (for example "download STL" or an order button for a printing service), we increase a counter for that button. We store only the total number of clicks per button. No IP address, no cookie, no identifier and nothing about you personally is stored with it, so these counts cannot be traced back to you or to a single session. We use them to see whether a feature is used at all.

How We Use Your Data

We will only use your data to improve the service as it is. As we don't have information about your identity, we cannot contact you or forward your personal information to third-parties. Most commonly, we will use the data we collect in the following circumstances:

• Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party) and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests.
• Where we need to comply with a legal obligation.

How Long We Keep Data

• Uploaded GPX tracks: roughly 72 hours, after which they are deleted automatically by Cloudflare R2. Deletion is handled by the storage lifecycle and may lag by up to a day.
• Intermediate model artifacts in Google Cloud Storage: at most 120 days, deleted automatically.
• Log data (webhoster and Google Cloud Logging): at most one month.
• Published Topodisc pages and models: these stay online until we remove them. You can ask us to delete one at any time.
• Click counters: kept indefinitely, but they are only totals per button and contain no data about you.

Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to the data we collect to the owner of the website.

Your Legal Rights

We don't collect and store data that identifies you, and we have no accounts that would let us link a request to a person. Still, under data protection laws you have rights regarding the technical data we process temporarily and the location or route data you send us:

• Right to information: You have the right to know what data is being processed.
• Right to access: You can request information about any technical data we may have temporarily stored.
• Right to erasure: You can request deletion of any technical data associated with your usage, and of any model you had built, including its public page.
• Right to object: You can object to our processing of technical data for analytics purposes.

Since we don't store personal identifying information, many traditional data subject rights have limited applicability to our service. If you have concerns about your data, please contact us at stephan@topoprint.ch.

In particular, if you created a model from a GPX track or a location and you would like the resulting page and model files taken offline, just write to stephan@topoprint.ch with the link, and we will delete it. You do not need to give a reason.

Cookies

At this point of time, we don't use cookies. We also do not use any advertising pixels, cross-site trackers, session recording or third-party analytics products. If we use cookies in the future, you can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this website may become inaccessible or not function properly.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party service providers to host our website and provide certain functionalities:

• cyon.ch: We use cyon.ch as our web hosting provider. They may collect and store technical information such as IP addresses as part of their standard hosting services. For more information about their privacy practices, please visit cyon.ch's privacy policy.
• Google Cloud Platform: We use Google Cloud Platform to run the whole calculation of the 3D models, in the region europe-west6 (Zurich, Switzerland). This covers the API that accepts your request, the queue in between, and the job that builds the model. What is transmitted are the model parameters (such as location, size and scale), the temporary link to an uploaded GPX track, and log messages. No identity data is transmitted, and we do not store anything about you there. Google may collect and process data according to their privacy policy. • Cloudflare: We use Cloudflare Workers and Cloudflare R2 storage to receive GPX tracks that you upload for a route model. The file is stored there under a random name for a short time (roughly 72 hours) so that our processing job can download it, and is then deleted automatically. For more information, please visit Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• swisstopo: Our maps, the address search and the Swiss elevation and building data come from the Swiss Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo). When you use the map or the address search in the Topodisc Designer, your browser contacts swisstopo servers directly, which means they receive your IP address and the map area or search term. Please see swisstopo's terms and privacy information.
• Mapterhorn: For locations outside Switzerland, and for areas that cross the Swiss border, we fetch worldwide elevation tiles from Mapterhorn, an open terrain service hosted on Cloudflare. The Web Designer and iOS app may contact Mapterhorn directly before submission to estimate the local resolution; Mapterhorn then receives your IP address, normal HTTP metadata and the requested tile coordinates. Our processing job also fetches the elevation tiles server-side, without forwarding your GPX file or any Topoprint account identifier. Please see Mapterhorn's privacy policy.
• Amazon Web Services (open data): For some locations and coarse scales we fetch worldwide elevation and map data (such as the Copernicus GLO-30 digital elevation model and Overture Maps data) from public open-data archives hosted on Amazon Web Services. These requests contain only geographic coordinates, never anything about your identity. Please see AWS's privacy notice.
• Formspree.io: We use Formspree.io to enable a feedback button on some of our pages, so-called Formbuttons. Please visit Formspree's privacy policy for more details.
• Apple (concerns our forthcoming iPhone app only): once the app is released, Apple distributes it through the App Store and handles any in-app purchases. In that case Apple is the seller and processes the payment; we never see your payment details, name or address. Please see Apple's privacy policy.
• 3D Printing Services: Upon your request, we forward printable 3D models to third-party service providers such as Teil3.ch and CraftCloud to facilitate 3D printing services. We only transfer the 3D model data necessary for printing and do not share any personal information with these providers. Please note that we are not affiliated with either Teil3.ch or CraftCloud, and any transaction you make with these services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

These third-party providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use and process personal information. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies to understand how they handle your data.

Print Your Track (iPhone app)

Status: this app is still in development and is not yet available. We publish this section in advance so that it can be referenced from the App Store listing when the app is submitted. It describes how the app handles data.

Print Your Track turns a GPX track into a printable Topodisc. It follows the same principle as the website: as little data as possible.

• No account and no tracking: there is no sign-in, no user profile, and no analytics or advertising SDK in the app. The app contains no third-party tracking libraries.
• Your GPX tracks: tracks are read and analyzed on your device. Only the track you actually decide to turn into a model is uploaded, through the same short-lived Cloudflare storage described above, and then passed to our processing job.
• What is removed before the upload: the app does not upload the file you picked. It rebuilds a minimal track on your iPhone containing only the coordinates, their elevations and the track title, and uploads that instead. Timestamps (so we never learn when you were there), author and contact fields, activity links, waypoints, recording extensions such as heart rate, cadence or power, and the original file name are all discarded before anything leaves your device.
• Publication: every model created in the iOS app gets an unguessable public page under https://topoprint.ch/topodiscs/, but is always excluded from recently built Topodiscs and from our map — this is the fixed behavior of the app, not a setting you have to find and switch on. The page stays reachable for anyone who has its link, so treat that link as the thing to be careful with; write to us if you want the page taken down.
• Maps and location: the map is drawn by Apple MapKit. The app does not need access to your device location, and does not ask for it — it works from the track you import.
• Camera: the camera is used for one purpose only, namely to place your finished model in augmented reality so you can see it on your table. No photo or video is stored or transmitted anywhere.
• Purchases: if you buy a supporter pass, the purchase is handled by Apple. We only learn whether a pass is currently active on your device; we never receive your payment data or your Apple Account details. A pass unlocks a colored 3MF download and a custom disc label; no privacy feature is behind it.
• Progress display: while your model is being built, the app asks our API about the status of your job using the job identifier. No personal data is sent with it.
• Data on your device: your imported tracks and your list of created models are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes them.

In the terms of Apple's privacy labels, the app is declared as collecting User Content: the track file you choose to upload, with its coordinates and its title, which we use to build your model and publish its page. It is marked as not linked to your identity and not used for tracking — there are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising.

We deliberately do not declare "Precise Location", because the app never collects your location: it has no access to your device's location, never asks for it, and the track you import is stripped of all timestamps before it is uploaded. What reaches us is a route geometry you handed over on purpose, not a record of where you were and when.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page.
